The lowdown on the showdown
So, to continue with the idea that travelling is more than about physically going to other places, I have promised myself I will also travel metaphorically. I’m going to branch out and explore new-to-me film genres and then write about them. Now, I’m no Mark Kermode and have never drafted a film review in my life! I am just really enjoying having the time and headspace to write, so why not?
I’ve never really been an avid cinema-goer, but with 2 Curzons in town, I’ve splashed out on a membership from which I plan to get full value for money from (mum, if you’re reading this, I know you’ll approve).

Blink Twice: female empowerment
Jennifers verdict: Scrapes a 2/5
Synopsis:
When tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It's paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone's having a great time. Nobody wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. Something is wrong with this place. She'll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.
